Journey to Growth - Comprehension
July 22, 2016
Your growth journey starts from where you are, the process will help you close the gap to get where you should be.
As human beings we easily fall into daily habits, doing the same things every day, doing things the same way, and getting the same results.
Unfortunately, living in your comfort zone leads to mediocrity. How can you reach your potential if you do not have the courage to leave your comfort zone?
From a psychological standpoint your comfort zone is an artificial mental boundary within which you maintain a sense of security and out of which you experience great discomfort.
For the most part your comfort zone is a reflection of your self-image and how you think and expect things should be.
In order to grow and reach your potential, you must challenge yourself in the following ways:
· Willing to let your present and future be different than your past.
· Willing to face your fears and take risks.
· Willing to do what you have never done before.
When you start performing new tasks you never imagined you were capable of doing, you start to see what you can become.
Moving forward to encounter new and unknown experiences will fill you with energy, joy and excitement.
Reflect and comprehend how far you want to stretch yourself
Discover areas in your life where you want to stretch to help you grow
Define a few long term goals and maintain your daily goals
Author's Personal Story (Part 4):
In our society, we often put emphasis on the importance of career achievements without consideration of the quality of life. Without understanding who we are and what we are built to do, we will continue to struggle. As I flipped another page of my life I began to wonder about my options. A deep personal growth convinced me that I needed to shift my career path to better utilize my God given gifts and achieve my potential.
Years of learning, studying and growing made me realize that I am not only a strong person, but also gifted in managing complicated situations and solving real problems. Being a focused person, gifted in conceptual thinking and creativity, it became clear that I need to apply what I know to help others to grow and live life with better understanding. I believe when we can think clearly, set better priorities, make better decisions, and adapt to needed changes in daily life, we will become happier individuals. As a result, our society will become a better place through efforts from each one of us.
